  • An unusual combination of conditions or unusual observation
  • Adverse effects of therapies
  • Questions regarding a current theory or illustration of a new theory
  • Personal impact

The CARE checklist is recommended.

Format

  • Word limit: 1500 (abstract not included). If a literature review is included, the word limit will be 2500 words.
  • Reference maximum: 10. (If a literature review is included, up to 30 references are accepted)
  • Figures or tables limit: 5. (A figure may include more than one image.)

Prior to submission, it is expected that the authors of the manuscript obtained the signed authorization of the subject or the subject’s legal representative in cases where the subject is deceased to use the information disclosed in the case report.
