Rules for Submission
The journal invites submissions of original artwork for consideration as cover images.
Healthcare professionals involved in cancer diagnosis, treatment or research are encouraged to contribute visual interpretations that convey the theme of hope in oncology—the perseverance, compassion, discovery, and healing that define the fight against cancer.
1. Originality and Authorship
- All submissions must be original creations by the submitting artist or group.
- The submitter must hold full copyright or legal rights to the image.
- Works previously published, exhibited, or submitted elsewhere are not eligible.
- Collaborative works are welcome, provided all contributors are acknowledged and have consented in writing to the submission.
- The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools—whether for concept generation, composition, rendering, or editing—must be clearly declared at submission.
- The submitting artist remains responsible for ensuring the originality, ethical integrity, and authorship of the final piece.
- Submissions found to include plagiarized, misappropriated, or uncredited elements will be disqualified.
2. Content Requirements
- The central theme of all submissions must be hope in oncology—interpreted broadly. Possible directions include:
- Visual metaphors of resilience, recovery, and human connection;
- Artistic representations of scientific progress or discovery;
- Imagery highlighting compassion in patient care;
- Abstract expressions of optimism and renewal in the face of illness.
- Both abstract and representational works are accepted, provided they communicate sensitivity and respect toward patients and healthcare professionals.
- Images must not contain identifiable patient information or reproduce copyrighted material (e.g., published figures, institutional logos, or commercial imagery).
- Any depiction of real individuals requires written consent from those portrayed.
- The journal reserves the right to reject works deemed inappropriate, insensitive, or inconsistent with the theme of hope.
3. Technical Requirements
- Accepted media:
- Painting, drawing, or mixed media
- Photography
- Digital illustration or digital art
- File specifications:
- Format: PDF, TIFF, PNG, or high-quality JPEG
- Minimum resolution: 300 dpi
- Minimum dimensions: 2400 × 2400 pixels or 1600 x 2400 pixels (landscape)
- Color mode: RGB
- No visible signatures, text, or watermarks
- A brief description (50–150 words) explaining the concept or inspiration behind the artwork must accompany the submission and the technique that was used.
- The editorial team may crop or resize images to fit cover dimensions, while preserving the artistic integrity of the work.
4. Selection and Rights
- Submissions will be evaluated by the editorial board based on artistic quality, emotional resonance with the theme of hope, relevance to oncology, and visual impact.
- By submitting, artists grant the journal a non-exclusive, one-time right to publish the artwork on the cover and in associated promotional materials (online, print, or social media), with full credit to the creator.
- All other rights remain with the artist.
